Earthquake
Risk Management Research Center was established in 2004 with the agreement
of Higher Education Council of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
The main target of this center is to develop risk management knowledge in
the country and carrying out more compatible relevant studies in line with
the developing programs of IIEES in fulfilling the policies of earthquake
risk reduction and disaster management.
Some of the main activities of this center are outlined as follows:

Studying seismic
risk reduction methods in various aspects of mitigation, preparedness,
emergency; response, rehabilitation and reconstruction to achieve
sustainable development;

Integrating
different risk management components for different purposes;

Studying the
factors usable in creating a safer environment regarding earthquake
hazards;

Research on
cultural approaches to improve safety culture and achieving public
participation for making the environment safer against earthquakes.
