Iran-Iraq Border 7.3 Mw Earthquake`s 8th Anniversary: Lessons Learned

On the eighth anniversary of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake of November 12, 2017, in Sarpol-e Zahab, the International Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (IIEES), in collaboration with the Universities of Basra and Sumer in Iraq, is holding a joint conference. The event will commence on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 14:00 to 17:00 (in Tehran Local time), with an opening speech by Professor Dr. Amini Hosseini, the President of IIEES. It will then continue with presentations by professors from the Institute and Iraqi universities regarding the seismicity and earthquake risk in the shared region of Iran and Iraq. This joint regional conference will be held both in-person and online. Attendance is free for all interested individuals. The in-person conference venue is located on the 6th floor of the main IIEES building, at No. 21, West Arghavan Street, North Dibaji Street.
